Spanish Teacher – IB Programme

The Role

We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic female Spanish teacher to join our Modern Languages department. You will teach Spanish across [grade levels / IB programmes], including [Language Acquisition (MYP) / Spanish B and Spanish ab initio (DP)]. You will help students build confidence in the language and a real appreciation of Hispanic cultures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based Spanish lessons in line with the IB framework
2. Assess student progress using IB criteria, including internal assessments and preparation for external exams
3. Differentiate instruction for learners of different language levels
4. Work with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary units
5. Keep accurate records and report progress to parents and school leadership
6. Contribute to school life through co-curricular activities, events and pastoral care

Requirements

1. Female candidates preferred
2. Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, Education or a related field
3. Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed, QTS, state teaching licence or equivalent)
4. At least 3 years of teaching experience in an IB school
5. Knowledge of PYP/MYP/ DP Spanish curriculum and assessment is preferred
6. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and strong English
7. IB-approved training/workshops (Category 1 or higher preferred)
8. Commitment to safeguarding and child protection

Desirable

1. Experience as an IB examiner or moderator
2. Experience teaching in an international or multicultural setting
3. Ability to teach a second language or subject
